The Importance of Starting Your Own Newsletter....
By: John Skorczewski
Hello,
I said last week that I had a semi-major announcement to make....well, I had to push it back a week. I apologize. Sorry for the suspense, but it'll definitely be worth the wait!
Last Week I talked to you about the importance of knowing your customer and knowing what they want. This week
I want to talk to you about your own ezine or newsletter.
One of the most important things for you to do as an online business owner is to create your own ezine or newsletter. That mailing list will become your
most important asset in the long run.
Why is that? Because you'll continue to sell your products and services to the people on that list forever.
With a web site, you only have one quick chance to turn a person into a customer before they leave your site forever. On the other hand, if you get them
to give you their email address, you can send them sales letters and special offers forever (or at least until they unsubscribe from your list).
Now I don't advise that you just start emailing out sales letters, you have to give value. And that's where a newsletter or ezine (both mean the same thing) come into play.
Sending out a weekly newsletter via email to everyone on your list is a great way to get to know your potential customers, give them something valuable, and
also slip in some tasteful advertisements along the way.
But what do you write about in each "issue"? Easy! Write about whatever you're selling. Think about it from the reader's point of view.
What are they likely to be interested in?
Here's a list of general ideas that you can write about:
- "How To" articles
- Question and Answer articles
- Tips
- Lists
- Reviews
- Interviews
- Freebie Giveaways
It really doesn't matter. And it doesn't have to be well written, write the way you talk. It also doesn't have to be
long. A half page to a page long is long enough.
I'm not going to get into the mechanics of sending out a newsletter (things like mailing list software etc) because
I've talked about that sort of thing before (check the archives).
If you don't have one already, I highly recommend that you start your own newsletter today.
That's all for this week. See you next Monday!
