Last week I talked about how to build a site that sells.
This week I want to talk about a little trick that can quadruple your sales and site traffic without
you doing much of anything different.
This last weekend was bachelor party weekend. Not my own, thankfully, but a friend of mine.
A full day-long affair with golf and then a night of bar hopping....lot's of bar hopping.
It's entirely possible that I'm still a little drunk (maybe it'll improve my writting!)....what a weekend!
One of the best forms of marketing is "Word of Mouth" marketing...That's where other people (usually your past customers)
spread the word about your products themselves.
Basically it involves making them so happy with your product, that they tell all their friends and
family members about it.
This is the absolute best form of marketing because when someone you know recommends something to you,
it has far more effect then me (someone you don't necessarily know) telling you to buy something.
Here's a trick that will explode your site traffic and sales using word of mouth marketing.
Whenever someone buys your product, immediately email or send them a short letter by mail
telling them that you'll refund their entire purchase price if they refer 4 friends who then buy
your product.
This will turn one sale into 3 or 4 sales with no effort on your part.
You can even weave this strategy into your sales copy if you want. Make it a major selling point
that the person can get your product absolutely free...all they have to do is get a couple
of their friends to buy too.
You can track this by giving the customer their own referral URL. You can find
free referral systems that you can install all over the web. Email me if you need help
with that.
Give it a try, I've used this tactic successfully for years. It works great!
