Search Engine Traffic For Flash Pages?
By: John Skorczewski
Hello,
Last Week I didn't really have an article because I talked to you about my new Internet Marketing Book that was just released. This week
I want to talk to you about getting search engine traffic to your web site if it has flash or some other kind of dynamic layout that the search engines can't read.
In the past, if your web site was mostly flash, or if you had a dynamically created web site (created on the fly by a database whenever someone visited your site) it
was really hard to get that site listed on the search engines.
That used to be a huge problem because search engine traffic is a great and very Inexpensive way to drive
thousands and thousands of highly targeted visitors to your web site.
What's changed? Well these days search engines are becoming more sophisticated. No, they still can't read
flash or dynamically created pages...or some javascript for that matter. But they are beginning to find
ways to work around this barrier.
The main way....incoming links.
If your site is flash or dynamically created and you want to get ranked high on the search engines, you
need to focus all of your attention on getting as many other web sites to link to you as possible.
Here's where it gets tricky. The search engines can't spider your site because of the flash. So they
have no way of knowing what your site is about. So then they can't categorize your site, and they don't
know how to list you on their search engine.
How to get around this? With the links to your site that other sites give to you.
Let's say you have a flash web site. You ask me to trade links with you and I agree to do it.
Let's say that your site URL is http://www.YourSite.com and it's about dog grooming.
The link that I put on my web site will look like this
<a href="http://www.YourSite.com">Learn Dog Grooming</a>
See the anchor text of the link..."Learn Dog Grooming". The search engines will spider my site,
see that link, realize that the site http://www.YourSite.com is about Dog Grooming (because it
clearly states that right there in the anchor text...and I wouldn't put a link to my site to that
site if it wasn't about what I said it's about) and wallah, your site will now be found at that search
engine under the keyword "Learn Dog Grooming".
The catch? There's always a catch isn't there! The catch is that you have to get as many sites
to link to you as possible (as many high PR sites that is) and they all have to use the
same anchor text to describe your site if you want to raise your ranking under that specific
keyword.
One or two sites linking to you is probably not going to be enough to get you ranked
very high under that keyword (unless those 2 or 3 sites have very high PR rankings themselves).
Yes, it may be a lot of work getting all those sites to link to you, but finally there's a way to
get your site listed if you have flash on your web site.
That's all for this week. See you next Monday!
