The Secrets Of Link Exchange Explained...
By: John Skorczewski
Hello,
How's the new year treating you so far? I hope your "beginning of the year" marketing is pulling
in good results! The beginning of the year is always a busy time for us here as we rush to start
the new year with a bang and role out several new marketing campaigns for our various products.
It's one of my favorite times of the year!
Last Week I talked to you about several marketing tactics you should
focus on in the new year.
This week I want to talk briefly on a very important topic for 2006. It's something people
don't typically understand but it's really really important.
It's Link Exchange.
I'm sure you know, in theory, what link exchange is. Someone puts
a link on their site pointing to your web site, and in exchange, you put
a link on your web site pointing to someone else's web page.
You do this by creating a special page on your web site that does
nothing but list links to other people...a "link" page.
People have touted the benefits of link exchange for years....but what most
people don't understand is that you won't get much (if any) direct traffic
from exchanging links with someone.
So what's the point?
Ah! The point is Search Engine Traffic!
More and more, the search engines (especially Google - the granddaddy of search engines)
rank web sites based on how many OTHER web sites are linking to you.
Why is that? Well, they think that if lot's of other people are linking to your web site,
your site must be good....and if it's good, they want to list it on their search engine.
That's really the secret to getting a good ranking on the search engines.
It does you no good to have you site listed at Google, if you're ranked 3,000th
under a given search term. You need to be ranked in the top ten if you want
the people using the search engine to see your site.
Link exchange helps you do this.
If I had to name one single marketing tactic that is going to be the most
important this year (and completely free - I might add) I'd probably say
link exchange.
You can start exchanging links for free...just find other sites that relate
to your site and email the site owner.
A tip...put their link on your link page BEFORE you email them.
Then when you email them, say something like:
"Hi, I LOVE your site...I just put a link to your site
on my own site's link page at http://www.mypage.com/links.html
I'd really appreciate if you put a link to my page on your site too...
I'll keep your link on my page as long as you keep my link on your
page.... and we'll both increase our link popularity and page rank
at Google.
Something like that will be far more effective then just cold emailing
them and asking to trade links....
Give it a try! Devote 1 hour per day, 5 days a week, to exchanging
links. Give it 3 or 4 weeks...you'll be amazed at the results! It's
exponential!
Next week I should be finished with a very special report that you can
get for free...so keep and eye out for next week's issue!
That's all for this week. See you next Monday!
