In Last Week's IssueI talked to you about choosing keywords to get the most site traffic. This week I want to talk about one of the most important tips I have...


I apologize for not writing for several weeks...I've been pretty busy with a few new projects and I've recently taken on more consulting clients than usual.


It's one of these consulting clients that I want to talk to you about today....the story should be pretty useful to you...at least I hope so!


As you probably know, I take on consulting clients from time to time, mainly because I love helping other people develop their web businesses....it keeps things from getting boring around here!


This particular client...I'll call him Jim...came to me with a particular problem.


Jim had a good nack for getting site traffic...he had on average 2,500 to 3,000 site visitors to his web site every day...which is not too shabby!


The problem was, he had little to no sales.


His conversion rates were terrible.


I took one look at his web site and knew immediately what the problem was.


People don't realize that web sites are nothing more than fancy sales letters. If you want to make money with your web site, you have to design the site as a sales letter....and nothing more.


That means you have to use the rules of sales letter writing.


Sales letters have many specific qualities...they start with a headline, (the sole purpose of which is to grab the reader's attention and get them to continue reading the sales letter)...and they continue with a specific set-up and layout (sub-heads, bullet points, etc).


All sales letter (Or I should say, all GOOD sales letters) end the same way as well....with a call to action that gets the reader to take some action (in this case, to order the product or service).


I say this often....if you want to be successful on the Internet, you SIMPLY MUST LEARN THE ART AND SCIENCE OF WRITING A SUCCESSFUL SALES LETTER.


Unfortunately, there's way too much to learn about sales letters for me to write in one article...in fact, I could recommend several killer books on the subject (all less than bucks each).


What I want you to take away from this article is the understanding that you simply must learn how to write a sales letter, and then you need to turn your web site into nothing but a sales letter.


Remove everything else from your site...all the banners, all the splashy and unnecessary graphics...everything but the sales letter.


And watch your sales shoot through the roof....


If you're serious about becoming successful online, I highly advise you to take the first step by learning how to write a sales letter.


It's a skill that you'll use in every aspect of your life... Think about it... you're learning how to convince someone to do something by writing a letter....convincing with words... that's a powerful skill to have, no matter what your profession is....


So take the first step.....read one book on the subject.
