Important New Google Feature....
By: John Skorczewski
Hello,
How's the week treating you so far? Me, I'm taking a mini-vacation...well as soon as today's issue get's sent,
I'm taking the rest of the day off....not much of a vacation I guess....but well, I'm calling it a vacation anyway!
In Last Week's Issue I went into more specific
detail about follow-up programs, and even gave you a sample letter that you can send out to your past customers. I hope
you took advantage and started your own follow-up program. Email and let me know about it!
This week I want to talk to you about something very very important if you rely on the search engines to get site traffic for your
web site. As the developer of the super successful Submission-Spider Search Engine Submission Software
I keep my ear to the ground when it comes to new innovations in the search world.
And did I stumble across a whopper the other day over at Google!
Let me explain.....There's a new Google Feature called Google Alerts. What you do is enter your
site URL (or any keywords you want to monitor)...then any time Google spiders a change in that site (or sites that LINK to that site)
Google will email you and tell you exactly what the change is.
This is HUGE people....and nobody has seemed to notice this yet.
Why is this so huge? Well, knowing what Google is doing with your web site
is priceless knowledge....knowing the second that someone new links to your
web site (and thus increases your Google PR) is priceless....
And you don't just have to enter your own site....you can enter your COMPETITOR'S
site too!
Google will email you automatically when ever there's a change in your competitors
site! Isn't that crazy! Priceless priceless priceless information!
I should say, Google won't notify you when something changes on the site,
they will email you when THEY (Google) notice a change in the site.
Which is also priceless information because it lets you know just how often Google
is checking on your site!
The more often that Google checks (spiders) your site, the higher ranking you
are probably going to have....
This goes the opposite direction too...I think Google will email you also when
someone STOPS linking to you.....crazy priceless info!
And this is all free! It's called Google Alerts...it's in Beta mode (test mode...they're
still working out the kinks but you can still use it).
Go here: http://www.Google.com/alerts
To sign up for this....you can enter keywords, and Google will notify you of
changes to sites that use those keywords etc....you gotta get in there and
play around with this thing!
That's all for this week. See you next Monday!
